"Be honest. Do you skip over the "classics" because you think they'll be hard to read or simply don't apply to today? If so, get ready to read a book that takes a timeless classic and dresses it in today's street-clothes. What Lael Arrington does in retelling Pilgrim's Progress makes "Christian's" story read like headline news. And, like a fast moving fiction novel, you'll find Christian's quest for faith and love speaks to your own need to find God amidst all the distractions and trials of our day."

“It is as if John Bunyan himself could show us the Way through and beyond today's materialist nihilism.  A terrific read!”

"Does John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress still resonate in the 21st Century? Certainly it does, but Lael Arrington helps make the necessary connections to our modern world in her fresh, insightful version of this classic tale. Join Christian and Faithful in their journey to Vanity Fair and Celestial City. It's a disturbing but insightful trip."

"Lael Arrington has re-woven a beloved classic, creating a "can't-put-it-down" allegory as fresh as today's news. Her Pilgrim's Progress Today is fast-paced and gripping, keeping young and old alike hooked into the story. Deep truths of the faith are delivered in a format that can linger for a lifetime in the hearts and minds of our youth, helping them navigate a modern world with the compass of Christ Himself. Bravo!"

"Lael Arrington has written a masterpiece! With high adventure, suspense, intrigue, and creative plot twists, the reader is instantly captured by the story of Chris, a young man who is on a quest for meaning in Pilgrim's Progress Today. The plot is reminiscent of the first journey Pilgrim took, but Lael brilliantly transposes this trip into modern times, and into 'identity points' that all of us can personalize. Whether young or old, this book should be read by every Christian who is seeking a life worth living in God's Kingdom Story!"

Welcome friends! Although Pilgrim’s Progress Today may read like a fantasy, within the story of Christian’s quest lies a deeper story of Kingdom reality, and these guides will help you discover it. As in Bunyan’s original, the story takes Christian through the landscape of the heart but also shines the light of God’s truth on the lies and illusions of our “whatever” world. Below you will find links to Study Guides created for three very different audiences.

Family Discussion Guide       download now
Worldproofing Your Kids presents biblical and common sense ways parents can help their children hang onto their faith. Pilgrim’s Progress Today rolls the same ideas into a story to grab hearts as well as minds. This guide gives parents questions (and answers) to springboard into lively family discussions about the messages our culture sends to “live small and shallow” and how God offers such depth and riches when we seek him. Pilgrim was written, in part, to throw open doors for family discussion about living our faith in turbulent times and finding God’s answers to the Big Questions of Life. This guide is also appropriate for junior high students and small groups.

Julie Williams, department chair of English at Bay Area Christian School in the Houston area, assigned her Senior English students to read Pilgrim’s Progress Today and gives her evaluation:

When I first read Pilgrim's Progress Today, I was thrilled to share it with someone...anyone. I told my husband after each chapter that I wish I could require all teens to read it, and I shared with him the impact the book had on me chapter by chapter. I have taught Bunyan's book for the past two years to my seniors, and have been frustrated with their lack of understanding and application of Christian's experiences into their everyday lives. Pilgrim's Progress Today is the perfect solution to my dilemma.

Q: Did the story provide a springboard to talk about worldview issues such as, having confidence in truth that is true for all people, the sanctity vs. the disposability of life?

A: I was very pleased with the book as a prompter for discussions on worldviews (besides its pure "entertainment" and educational value), and I had no idea at the time we read it as a class how much it would also benefit our Bible discussions this semester on worldviews. My husband and I are teaching the seniors the David Nobel course "Understanding the Times." Several times in the past two weeks alone I have referred to incidents and scenes from your book to help explain a point or clarify a worldview.

I certainly endorse Pilgrim’s Progress Today as a piece of literary excellence as well as a book of Biblical Truth and a powerful evangelistic tool.
